I took all my cars this weekend into the juicy lube place to put fresh Royal Purple in.
I take my own oil and my own filters each time and they hate me because they only charge me $10.oo per shot (used to be $5.oo).Anyway, they owner of juicy lube started asking me a bazillion questions (more than three) about my RoyalPurple experiences, performance, mileage, etc..etc. It turns out, he's been eveluating RP for over 6 months for a "national magazine". Every 3,000 miles, he takes a sample from his six "test" cars and sends it in to a lab. (3 RP cars, 3 Mobil1 cars) The lab will tell him whether the oil is protecting 100% or not. All cars are his employees cars, so no hidden agenda.
Well, so far, so good. After 6,000 miles, both Mobil1 and Royal Purple are protecting 100%. However, he said that he can tell RP will most like endure the longest because of the color and smell of the oil. He said the RP hasn't changed color too much, while mobil1 has gotten extremely dark "bubbly"(?). Anyway, he was very open to me stopping by and checking up on his tests in the future...I'll try and find out what magazine it's for too.
